그룹 공(GROUP GONF) 《의자 같이 쓰기 - Share that chair》

한 개의 의자는 편안함을 제공한다. 두 개의 마주 보는 의자는 편안함뿐 아니라 대화와 소통의 기회를 열어준다. 아트퍼니처를 만드는 작가들이 모인 그룹 공은 더 많은 의자가 모이면, 공간을 넘어 세상에서 어떤 역할을 수행할 수 있을지에 대해 탐구하고자 한다. 

《의자 같이 쓰기 Share That Chair》는 의자라는 사물이 가질수 있는 다양한 역할을 탐구하고 확장하기 위해 기획했다. 이번 전시는 의자의 기능적 요소 외 미학적, 예술적 아트퍼니처 영역의 의자들을 한곳에 모아 의자의 기능을 재조명하고 새로운 가능성을 제시한다.

전시는 3가지 소주제로 구성돼 있다. 첫째, ‘앉기’에서는 그룹 공의 소속 작가 7명이 만든 다양한 의자들이 모여있다. 관객들은 의자에 앉아 작가들의 이야기를 들으며 의자에 대한 새로운 시각을 경험할 수 있다. 둘째, ‘대화하기’는 의자에 대한 다양한 정의를 공유하는 공간으로 관객들과 함께 의자를 탐구하며 생각을 공유해 보고자 한다. 셋째, ‘남기기’는 관객들이 직접 고민하고 상상한 의자의 개념을 표현하는 체험형 전시 공간이다. 관객들은 준비된 조각들을 조립해 자신이 생각하는 새로운 의자의 형태를 만들어 다른 관객들과 의자에 대한 생각을 공유해볼 수 있다. 이를 통해 작가들의 작품을 전시하는 것 뿐 아니라 '의자'라는 사물 하나만으로도 사람들과 어떻게 소통하고 이야기를 만들어나갈 수 있는지 보여주는 전시를 만들어 나가고자 한다.

A single chair provides comfort. Two chairs facing each other offer not only comfort but also opportunities for conversation and communication. The design GROUP GONG, composed of artists who create chairs, seeks to explore what roles chairs can play in the world when more chairs come together, beyond just occupying space.

《Share That Chair》 is organized to explore and expand the various roles that a chair can have. This exhibition brings together chairs from the aesthetic and artistic realm, beyond their functional elements, to reexamine the function of chairs and suggest new possibilities.

The exhibition is divided into three sub-themes. First, 'Sitting' features a variety of chairs created by seven artists from GROUP GONG. Visitors can sit on the chairs and listen to the artists' stories, experiencing new perspectives on chairs. Second, 'Talking' is a space for sharing various definitions of chairs, where visitors can explore and share different viewpoints about chairs together. Third, 'Leave behind' is an interactive exhibition space where visitors can express their concepts of chairs that they have thought about and imagined. In this space, visitors assemble prepared pieces to create new forms of chairs, sharing their thoughts on chairs with other visitors.

Through this, the exhibition aims to show not only the artists' works but also how a single object, a chair, can facilitate communication and storytelling among people.
